What a wonderful experience working with Bayne Custom Woodworking! Roger made a beautiful tiny sandbox for me, just like the one we have at our house, as a special Christmas ornament for our grandson. He did such an amazing job and was so pleasant to work with. I first found Bayne Custom Woodworking in 2022 when I was looking for someone who could create a custom piece that I had in mind for my new apartment. After reading the reviews for Bayne Woodworking, I met Roger and told him about my ideas for a beautiful custom sideboard which was largely based off of a piece available at West Elm, however the piece at West Elm only came in an orangey color and I was hoping for a darker richer brown to go with the color scheme in my apartment. To be honest, I was very worried about trusting anyone with this project as I wanted to be sure that the finished product would look gorgeous in my space and match the quality of the other furniture pieces nicely. When Roger kindly reassured me that my expectations would be met (and if for any reason they were not, he would work to remedy that), I decided to trust him with the project. He worked for many weeks ensuring that each little detail was perfect and he constantly sent me update emails with photos along the way to be sure that I was happy with the progress. Additionally, he allowed me to come visit his shop anytime I wanted to see the progress in person. It was amazing to see it come together little by little! I could tell long before it was completed that I was going to be very, very happy with the finished piece. The attention to detail and precision that he used while designing this sideboard was really amazing. When the woodwork was completely finished, I was having a difficult time choosing what I felt like would be the best stain color. Roger’s wife Becky, who has experience in interior design, was so kind and willing to help me as well, which I really appreciated! It took me quite a while to choose the right color, but Roger remained very patient with me and didn’t make me feel like my decision had to be rushed. I really, really appreciated that and by the end, I felt like I had really had the opportunity to be part of the process as a whole. The finished piece is stunning!!!!! (see photos). Even more important than it’s beauty, is the fact that I know I will have this piece for the rest of my life. It is unbelievably well made and has massively exceeded every single one of my expectations. Roger also added soft close doors and drawers, which I had not asked him to do but it’s a detail that I have come to really, really appreciate having now that I use my sideboard for storage space on a daily basis. To be completely honest, this sideboard is 100 times nicer than the piece that this project was originally based off of!!! Since trusting Roger with my sideboard, I have also trusted him to build the custom frame for the picture hanging above my sideboard as well – another unbelievably gorgeous addition to my apartment and a piece that I will have forever – and he has also stained a dining table, bench, and side table for me, all of which turned out just as beautifully. Let me end by saying this – if you are at all hesitant about trusting Roger with any project, I can assure you that he only does amazing work.
